Travelling for a short or long time in India? Sahara Aalhad can accept volunteers for as little as a week or as long as a year. We are easily reachable by train or bus from Mumbai and other points all over India. Our volunteers have said, "Sahara is an incredibly meaningful experience," and "one of the highlights of our trip”.

At Sahara Aalhad we are very enthusiastic about getting both local and international volunteers involved. It is a great opportunity to work for an NGO, gain hands-on experience of development, and meet people from a wide range of backgrounds.

It is important to stress that volunteers are here to support staff, not replace them. The work you carry out as a volunteer depends largely on your own skills and interests, and of course the events taking place at Sahara Aalhad when you arrive.
In the past volunteers have helped in areas such as fundraising, child-care, organising events, and carrying out research, so please have a look at the programs we run and email us in advance so we can assign you a project. Having said that, it is always good to remain flexible as plans can change!
